History of the Hanover Pennsylvania Fire Department's 1935 Mack Pumper
This particular Mack BX truck was part of the BX series which were built by Mack Trucks, Inc. from 1932 - 1940.
the reference to Type 75 meant that this truck came with a water pump manufactured by Hale Pumps and was capable of generating a 750 gallons of water flow per minute.
The Borough of Hanover purchased this pumper in 1935 to be the first line of service at the Hanover Fire Company #1. From 1935 through 1966, this pumper served the Borough well; but in 1976, it was transferred to the Clearview Fire Station #3 and remained there for only 4 years. At that time, the pumper was put into reserve status and was stationed at the borough landfill to serve until 1976. In 1976, the vehicle returned to the Clearview Fire Station 3# and stayed there until 1978. The truck today still is in good running order and has been to many musters and parades.
